Today’s letter is one Jane Austen wrote to her brother, Charles in 1817 — and much of it concerns the ill health of several people. It presents something of a sad read considering our hindsight of her death a few months later, one of the ailments discussed being her own.
As a bonus, there is a short note (that I didn’t get posted yesterday) that she wrote to the publisher Crosby & Co., on 5th April 1809 regarding her novel Susan, and their reply on the 8th April. Mrs Ashton Dennis has a bone to pick concerning their failure to publish her novel in a timely manner — she’s quite ‘MAD’!
