[I] think Nature & Spirit cover many sins of a wandering story

I am going to be away for several days from tomorrow, with sketchy internet connectivity at best — so I’m posting this continuation of a letter Jane Austen wote to her niece Anna a few days earlier than the August dates they were written.  Both the 17th and 18th are part of the same letter, one that was begun on 12th August 1814 and is almost exclusively comprised of advice regarding a story Anna had been writing.   Interesting, the comparison described between Cassandra’s and Jane’s thoughts on good writing, among other things…

… and my own tendency to “wander” in my stories a bit prompted today’s letter quotation, 😉

17th August 1814 – continuation from 12th August

18th August 1814 – continuation from 12th & 17th August
